PROMOTE THE AAC

Have you ever wondered how you could contribute to the AAC? (Of course!) Well, now there are five (yes, five!) great ways to promote the AAC. Just download and printout the files below. It doesn't get any easier than this. Help spread the word. Help the AAC achieve world dominance.

Note that these files are PDFs (Portable Document File). That means you can use Adobe Acrobat Reader to print them out. Acrobat Reader is free so there shouldn't be any trouble. Just try downloading the forms, you probably already have Acrobat Reader installed on your computer.

1.a) The new AACSC Poster with Stammtisch location specified

Instructions for using the poster:

  1. Download and printout the file (PDF) here
  2. Hang up the result in your favorite/favourite places.
  3. Suggested places for hanging up the AAC poster:
    • bathroom stalls/water closets (WC)
    • classrooms/lecture halls, especially ones that teach English or German as a foreign language
    • the office
    • student dormitories (Studenten Wohnheim)
    • where ever you see other posters hanging up

2. The AACSC wallet-size cards

Instructions for using AAC Wallet Size Cards:

  1. Download and printout the file (PDF, A4) here.
  2. Cut out the cards. Note that the pieces cleverly have the same size as business cards do.
  3. Hand out resulting cards to everyone you can.

3. The AACSC full colour poster

aacsc_poster_colourThis artistic masterpiece was contributed by Doris Jantscher (thanks Doris!). Originally it featured 2005's Stammtisch location, the Graba 42 – this has been removed in this version (you can add the current location yourself if you feel creative).

You can download it here (PDF, A4).
Go ahead and print it out just like you would with the other size A4 poster.

4. The AACSC Mailing List Sign-Up Sheet

aacsc_signupsheetInstructions for using AAC Sign-Up Sheet:

  1. Download and printout the sign-up sheet (PDF, A4).
  2. Make an announcement at the beginning of class informing everyone: (1) of what the AAC is and (2) that there's a sign-up sheet being handed around during the lecture.
  3. Or optionally, have your professor/lecturer make the announcement (good for English classes!).
  4. Add your own name and email address to start off (Some people don't like being first.)
  5. Re-collect the sheet at the end of lecture full of names and email address.
  6. Return the sheet to an AAC Students Club Organizing Committee Member.
The theory behind the mailing list sign-up sheet is based on forgetfulness. People might be informed or aware of the AAC in one way or another, but as soon as they are informed, they forget. This can be the result of being busy (as we all are). It really helps if we get an email reminding us and informing us about the AAC. Plus, how many prospective members are going to remember to look at the AAC web site next time they're in front of the computer? Not many is my guess. People generally have many other things to do and do not want to spend more time in front of the computer than is absolutely necessary.

And then on to step 2...

Have you put up an AAC poster anywhere? If so, send us a digital photo of the poster (and its surroundings) along with the address of its location and we'll post the photo here on the website. To give an example, here are two photos from Bob:

AAC sign at GhegaGasse   AAC sign at FH Joanneum

Left picture: An AAC membership drive sign at the Studentenwohnheim right near where Bob lived: in Ghegangasse. Special craftsmanship has been used here. In fact there are two AAC signs inside a plastic sleeve and the plastic sleeve has been fastened to the glass. As a result, readers can view the sign from both directions (from inside and outside) and the paper should durate longer since it is protected.
Right picture: An AAC sign at the FH Joanneum on Alte Poste Straße. Man does that look good. Bob, you can go buy yourself a beer now.
